Warehouse Gas Detection
Both distribution centres and warehousing sites are increasingly using chilled or freezer areas for storage. These facilities require a plant room with chillers or freezer compressors. More often than not, these power units run by ammonia or CO2 gas, which can be potentially hazardous. Ammonia is widely used as a coolant in large refrigeration systems, and injuries from ammonia leaks are common among workers who are exposed to the escaped ammonia. In more serious cases, death is not uncommon.
Back in 2001, 20 workers were killed in an ammonia explosion in Toulouse, France. Liquid anhydrous ammonia expands over 850 times when released to ambient air and forms large vapour clouds. It is, therefore, imperative that the correct leak detection is used to provide continuous monitoring in these plants. Gas Monitoring
TQ Environmental use only hard-wired systems for ammonia applications, thereby providing constant monitoring of each point of detection at all times. We utilise ATEX-rated TQ122 flameproof (Exdb) toxic gas sensors that are configured as 2-wire 4-20mA transducers which utilise field-proven electrocatalytic Pellistor technology for use in zone 1 and 2 hazardous areas.
We also manufacture a 3-wire flammable TQ122 for higher ppm detection. These sensors can be used in conjunction with a TQ126a single point gas detection controller, TQ4000 1- 4 channel control panel or the TQ8000 from 8 channel up to 48 channel control panel.
